Keeping a Nature Journal Class at the Monster Shop
Keeping a nature journal is an easily accessible way to experience calm, wonder, creativity, pleasure and connection with our natural world amidst our fast paced modern lives. Unplug for a couple of hours and come learn how with me, an experienced naturalist, sketcher, and educator. In this class, you will learn my favorite materials and strategies for sketching and journaling about nature, both at home and in the field, and how to make an easy no-sew sketchbook. You’ll also take home a free, handmade, pocket-sized nature journal and mini-zine with nature journaling prompts. Class will begin with warm up drawing exercises to get your hands moving and creativity juices flowing. Then you’ll learn different ways to add notes, diagrams, and information alongside your nature drawings, making them into a nature journal. This class is suitable for all levels of experience. All materials will be provided.

I’ll show you my favorite techniques for capturing the beauty of trees both in the landscape and up close. All skill levels welcome but this workshop is designed to be beginner friendly.
